BODYSTEP

BODYSTEP™ is the energizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step you get huge motivation from sing-a-long music and approachable instructors. Cardio blocks push fat burning systems into high gear followed by muscle conditioning tracks that shape and tone your body. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYSTEP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Try a class - Monday 9.15am, Wednesday 5.45am, Wednesday 5.30pm, and Thursday 10.15am

Get Results

Your body adapts to physical activity.  That’s how we get fitter (it is also how we get less fit).  If you have been doing the same program – cardio or resistance – you body has probably adapted to the training and now needs a new challenge.

We have Club Trainers that can help you with a new program, motivation and setting goals or a Bio Analysis (Body Fat reading).

If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our Club Trainers – please call 3300 6668 or email rebeccah@healthracquet.net

ITB Friction Syndrome – A Runner’s Nightmare!

Spring is upon us and with that thousands of people are taking to the streets and running: be it triathlons, the Bridge to Brisbane or just to get fit for donning the beach togs.  One of the main complaints we see with runners is ITB friction syndrome.  The iliotibial band is a fibrous band that runs down the outside of the thigh attaching just below the knee.  It crosses a bony point called the lateral femoral condyle just to the outside of the knee and here it can rub, causing a frictioning resulting in pain.  This rubbing can occur, amongst other things, because of poor biomechanics.  It is often related to poor foot control, a rolling in of the hip and knee due to poor strength (usually of the gluteal muscles) and an overuse and tightness in the muscles at the outside of the thigh.

So what can you do?  Regular sports massage (look at the website to check out our massage therapies) and rolling the outside of the thigh lying on a foam roller will help release the tight thigh muscles and is extremely beneficial. Many people stretch the ITB but in many cases this can be very detrimental as the ITB is further compressed against the bone, in the long run making things worse.  Hip, knee and foot alignment and strength must be addressed with specific exercises to ensure the leg does not roll inwards. Shoe wear and orthotics may also need to be addressed.

If you are concerned about your running style it is worth having your biomechanics assessed and to start a prevention program.  It this injury is already plaguing you or if you just want to find out more please feel free to email the physios from our website www.physiologix.com.au or directly at admin@physiologix.com.auor call us on (07) 3511 1112.
