New Group Fitness Room
This week we unveil our freshly renovated Group Fitness Room. The ultra hygenic timber floor will make a huge difference to the room. We have also added fresh paint, new sticky yoga mats, proper storage for the equipment, a new state of the art, microphone for our instructors and a new stage! Come and participate in your favourite class this week and check out the new digs.
Personal Training VIP Area
You may have noticed we have sectioned off the Personal Training area upstairs. This is to prevent unathorised use of this area. This area must only be used by clients who are training with a Personal Trainer. You are welcome to use the member's boxing and pilates area, however please use the back entrance to access this area.
Massage Therapist
Did you know we have a massage therapist on board now? Her name is Catherine and she works right out of our gym! Catherine specialises in sports/remedial and relaxation massage. Call Catherine on 0412 564 346 to make an appointment. We highly recommend her!
Kid's aerobics
We plan to kick off kid's circuit aerobics classes one or two afternoons per week at 4.30pm. This will be aimed at primary school kids and early high school. Please register your interest by sending an email to chantal@healthracquet.net as we need at least 20 kids to get this class started.

Instructor Profile
Name: Stu Hardie
I teach: BodyBalance
My favourite program to teach and why: I love teaching BodyBalance because of the feeling of flow and connection with the body it promotes. Being able to focus on being more in touch with your body, what it's telling you but also getting a strong conditioning workout is a great combination in one programme! Best of all the music is great and its 50 minutes to just be with yourself and step away from the distractions in the world outside the group fitness room!
My other job (if I have one): Final year Law School student, and have been a litigation Paralegal in a CBD firm for almost 2 years.
Why I started teaching: I started teaching after the instructor who originally encouraged me (practically had to drag me into the group fitness room actually) to come along and try some classes out and began encouraging me to see that I might have something to offer to my fellow participants as an instructor. So a year later, I took the plunge to do the training and ever since have enjoyed helping members develop a healthy body and mind and building a great rapport with each of them.
Why I teach at The Gap: I've been a member on and off at the club since it first opened way back in the day as a gym, and since returning 2 year ago, I've realised how much of a big extended family the staff and members are, always supportive of each other and up for a laugh and some fun (while working hard, of course!). The chance to work somewhere with wonderful friends in my colleagues and our beautiful members who inspire me to keep learning and give them an experience is just fantastic!
My favourite pre-class sneaky snack to get me through: Is actually the little Milky Way bars in the fridge at reception - I do try and waffle it down before anyone see's me, but I've been sprung before. What can I say? They are so yummy and remind me of being a kid in the supermarket who could only have his silence and cooperation bought with a Milky Way.
The best advice I can give anyone who is just starting out: Whatever way you start out at the club, be it group fitness classes, weights, or just cadio (or all of the above!), be patient and willing to give it all a go. It can be a real shock to the system, but the benefits of being in a healthy, supportive enviroment will really pay off with a little hard work, and you'll reap the rewards of what you put in. Best thing I say to people starting out is that at the end of the day, fitness is more about the journey, and not the final destination. So enjoy all the experiences in between until you reach your goals!
One thing you didn’t know about me: I'm a bit of a compulsive organiser and cleaner - this explains why I won't start my Sunday BodyBalance class until I've picked up all the left over class tags from the floor and arranged my candles on the stage in a new pattern each week. Oh and I actually enjoy housework provided the music is pumping
