INSTRUCTOR PROFILE - SALLY PAYNTER
I started teaching approximately 12 years, after overcoming my fear of walking into a group fitness studio.. after a dare that involved someone saying that if they could teach me a grape vine in less than 5 minutes I had to come and do pump for the first time. They of course won the bet and I
had to take the first step into the group fitness room.. I have never been so scared, everyone seemed to know what to do, where to go and more importantly how to look like you knew what you were doing even though you didn't!
The first program I trained in was Body Pump and is still my first love, I love the fun and power of pump as well as the interaction and rapport I have with people who come to my classes. I enjoy watching people as they start to challenge themselves with heavier weights and the thrill they get when they achieve there goals.
Something interesting about myself...!! Let me see, I have been trekking in Nepal, had my feet hennaed in Morocco, climbed the Eiffel Tower when it was minus 10, been diving in the Solomon Islands.. Laughed so hard when I almost fell off a camel in the Sahara, I cried listening to my son describe the feeling he had when his first child was born.
Teaching at the Gap is the highlight of my week. It is like being surrounded by family from the moment I walk in the door. There is always someone who will ask 'How are you going today' and mean it. I enjoy the camaraderie that exists between everyone, all the highs and lows are shared and are somehow so much better because of it. Thank you, for allowing me to be a part of it.
